Calculator FAQs
Are these calculations accurate?
These calculators use standard financial formulas (compound interest, future value of annuity) and are accurate for planning purposes. Actual returns depend on market performance. Mutual Fund investments are subject to market risk.
What return rate should I use for SIP?
For conservative planning, use 10–11%. For equity funds over 10+ years, 12% is a reasonable long-term average. Debt funds typically return 6–8%. For a mix, use 10%. Always consult an AMFI-registered MFD before investing.
What is the difference between SIP and Step-up SIP?
A regular SIP invests the same amount every month. A Step-up SIP (also called Top-up SIP) increases your investment by a fixed percentage every year — say 10%. Since your SIP amount grows with your income, the final corpus is significantly larger.
How is the Retirement Calculator different from a SIP Calculator?
The Retirement Calculator works backwards. You tell it your current expenses and desired retirement age — it calculates the corpus you'll need (adjusting for inflation) and then tells you exactly how much monthly SIP you need to start today to reach that corpus.
